We’ve long wanted to do a weekend feature on one of the many fantastic British female actors. So on the sad news of the death of Maggie Smith we have chosen films that showcase her skills over a weekend. We are unable to get hold of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, but we think these two films illustrate why she was such a loved performer.
We start with a Friday matinée performance of Ladies in Lavender, co-starring the great Judi Dench, and we follow the Friday matinée with a more recent performance from Maggie Smith where she portrays and eccentric woman who lives in a van on writer Alan Bennet's driveway!
